You’ll Rebel to Anything- MSI

Apparently not everything.

We have lost something over time- maybe not lost, maybe this unidentified thing has just become scarce. What is it, I cannot place in words but I can name some times it was seen; 1773, 1848, 1936, 1955, 1963, 1965. (https://www.upworthy.com/7-times-in-us-history-when-people-protested-and-things-changed). It is the year 2020 and the people of this country stand segmented by their pride, ego, and prejudices. People plan marches and protests like they are events for the greatest social affair- they give them cute names and believe wearing colors and buying merchandise will raise awareness. Why must we need a color or a planned fundraising walk to create awareness- people dying should cause some awareness, the pain and suffering of individuals should be enough awareness. In 2020 America is concerned with names and labels of “causes” and socially deeming which are more important than others. Why must there be a hierarchy of the suffering? It’s to keep us at each other’s throats and to sabotage any sense of unity.

In 1963 there was the March to Washington. – for who? For what cause? It raised awareness to the treatment of African Americans- but the awareness was already there- but fear and inherently follow blindly and wait for the government to tell them what is right and wrong instead of following their own compass.

Why must it be a mandate from the government to tell people to stop being selfish pieces of shit to one another?

Is common sense or better yet, decency gone?

What have we become and where did it go, that led us to unite and march for real changes, to sit on a bus seat against the law?

We look back now and say but of course that was a stupid law, and yet we act today so superior and don’t bat an eye at all of the ridiculous things happening today. Did we lose sight? Do Americans think that all the fights have been fought?

I wish to be enlightened by those who believe in freedom that keep their tails between their legs when faced with a blatant display of abuse of an individual. How much awareness do we need to stop looking away, are you afraid of being alone? You know of MLK and Rosa Parks what about, Ida B. Wells, William Lewis Moore, or Viola Gregg Liuzzo? You only need to one person- doing what’s right and treating individuals equally.

Today we stand fragmented as we carelessly continue to spread illness. Snapchat is flooded with tourist photos and parties while people die during a national pandemic. What color would make you all take this seriously? Which celebrity needs to sing? Better yet, who needs to die to be the poster model for this cause to get you all to stop disregarding the wellbeing of others in order to party and travel.
