Ode to the Unyoked

Words From the Edge

Image 1

In the halls of power, where decisions are made,

A circus unfolds, a charade on display.

Elected leaders, oh, what a surprise,

Seems common sense is not the ultimate prize.

Idiots in Congress, playing games with our fate,

A comedy of errors, it’s a twisted debate.

But we won’t be fooled, we’ll rise above,

Demanding wisdom, a government we’ll love.

They talk in circles, dance around the truth,

Pointing fingers, oh, the fountain of youth.

But we’re not blind, we see through the show,

Idiots in Congress, it’s time to go.

Empty promises, like echoes in the air,

They say they care, but it’s just hot air.

We’re the voice of reason, the call of the wise,

No more fools in power, it’s time to revise.

Idiots in Congress, playing games with our fate,

A comedy of errors, it’s a twisted debate.

But we won’t be fooled, we’ll rise above,

Demanding wisdom, a government we’ll love.

Round and round in circles they go,

Lost in their egos, putting on a show.

But we the people, we stand strong,

In the face of ignorance, we’ll right the wrong.

It’s time for change, a new chapter to start,

No more playing games, it’s a matter of heart.

The power’s in our hands, the ballot our voice,

Idiots in Congress, it’s time to rejoice.

So here’s our anthem, a call to the wise,

To break the chains of ignorance, let the truth arise.

No more idiots in Congress, it’s time to be free,

For a brighter future, for you and for me.

About Shawn Paul Cosner 47 Articles
Shawn Paul Cosner writes about civic duty and the kind of leadership that brings the best out of anyone in the room. Much of his work pushes back against the intentional division being sold to citizens as identity — and the corresponding collapse of civility that has made it harder to think clearly, harder to argue honestly, and harder to live as fellow citizens of the same country. He argues that the republic gets the future its citizens deserve, and that the work of building anything better starts with how each of us shows up. U.S. Army veteran. Juris Doctor, Appalachian School of Law.
