Broken System

Let us be honest, the two party political system in America is broken.  The incompetent actors, impersonators, and appointed representatives are continuing to destroy the society I love, the country I swore to defend, and the standard of norms the rest of the world looks to for guidance.

We are better, We deserve better, and personally I am tired of getting less.

How can two people, only two ways of thinking, accurately represent the 327 million people in this Democratic Republic?  They cant!  The truth is – it is a system solely devoted to elect a person from one ruling class or the other.

Americans get a turd choice from the DNC or the RNC.  Which both choices are usually so far away on the political spectrum from each other, a balance or compromise can seldom exist.

Our elected officials fail to solve our Nation’s problems. Instead each failed leader pushes individual agendas that continue to eat away at our ability to work and live together. We are not enemies. We are all each other’s countrymen and its high time our leaders should represent that.

We have over 230 million people who belong to the voting age population and of these; A number that is more staggering, only 138 million people voted for president in 2016.

Where are the other 90 million people? In addition, what would motivate them to get up and cast a ballot to bring the much needed leadership change America so desperately needs?  They did not bother to vote because they are not accurately represented by the choices presented.

They are like me and decided to take that night off.

Of course, by now some readers are upset and critical of a failure to cast a vote saying things like, “If you don’t vote, then you have no right to complain” or “It is your duty and responsibility to vote.

RANT WARNING

Let’s clear some things up.

First, my abstinence from voting is a vote.  I decided that neither deserved my vote and that is, in fact, a vote.  In addition, my entire family (including me) served in the military and two individuals in my family gave their life, so my right to complain supersedes any asinine argument one tries to create of me not being able complain because I didn’t vote.

Second, I have to laugh about the duty and responsibility comment as if we earn the right to vote through some special selection.  Think about this, we are not required to have prerequisites or qualifications to vote or participate in an election as candidate?  Usually a requirement of age and residency is the only restriction.

Yet, we act as if it is as on the same footing as open-heart surgery. Read any headline in the news that speaks to a new rape, murder charge, or some extreme opinionated garbage that an extremist has, those people may have just voted.

I have a better one for you.  When politicians are elected, those opposed protest and decide to defecate in public, butt naked, on an American flag or on a cutout of the individual who won or lost. Those people voted.

Lately supremacist have been talking about lynching black people and crying a superior race.  Are you kidding me? What the hell is wrong with people.

And, people get upset that I didn’t use my right to vote as they did.

Until we have a way prevent incompetent people from voting or running in an election, I will reserve my right to not vote and do it only when a candidate that stands for something other than themselves emerges. They are the ones who are deserving of my vote.

Almost can make this a written piece in itself.

RANT FINISHED

Let us get back on track.

We are forced to vote either Red or Blue as any alternatives who threaten the status-quo is quickly dismissed as irrelevant.  A candidate who is neither a Democrat nor Republican may motivate those who decided not to vote.  But we push differences aside like irrelevant garbage, as we always do. How American of us. . .

I want a candidate to represent all in an inclusive campaign.  I am not sold on the left’s claim of inclusion because they continue a campaign of discontent against the right claiming their ideology is wrong.

How can you accept all and different beliefs then contradict yourself by refusing to accept a belief from the right?  Oh the intolerance of the tolerant.

The right is just as bad.  Wanting to hold on to the way it was, the way it used to be, as it is a superior approach to any other way. Trying to stomp out anything that offends their way of life.

Both sides have flaws and neither are correct, just an alternative and different from each other. It is okay to have a different opinion from others, matter of fact we should encourage it.

When groupthink is prevalent, so is hate, intolerance, and the opposite of progress. We, as a people, must learn to live with each other or we will soon learn, only to hate each other. We are better than this.

Our country is composed of both. When a person can represent multiple ideas, beliefs, and truths maybe that will be the beginning of how to correctly run this beautiful system of governance.

I am not political, I am very opinionated. My thinking has never attacked one side in favor of the other. I see flaws in both Republicans and Democrats but I also see myself in them~American.
